I know I may be a bit slow on the trend, but I am really starting to love Chevron. I am experimenting adding it to walls, pillows, rugs…anything I can paint it on actually! I had a really boring guest room in need of a little style, so I decided I would add a chevron accent wall. Since it was right before Christmas, I didn’t have a lot of time or energy, so I decided that instead of an elaborate taping job I would just mark off a grid and freehand it. Funny thing is that within a week of completing this wall, I read that a new trend we will see is hand painted chevron! Well, I am officially on trend then…(not just too lazy to tape it off!) Here is a look at what I was working with.
I used a chalk line to create a grid of 12″ squares. Then I used a straight edge and a pencil to make the chevron pattern. At that point instead of using a lot of tape and a roller, I simply dipped my paint brush in paint and lightly brushed back and forth along the pencil line. And here are the final results.
I really love how it turned out. I especially like these kinds of “big bang for your buck” types of decorating projects. Now I can turn my attention to pillows. Any suggestions?
