Decorating with Sticks, Rocks, and Trees

As the saying goes, “the best things in life are free.”  And I guess you could argue that some of the best decor is free as well, when you consider using sticks, rocks, and trees as elements in your design.  I love sticks, rocks, and trees so much that I have devoted and entire bulletin board on Pinterest to them.  Natural elements in their found state can be very soothing.  The same natural elements can bring unexpected interest when used as a base to create a functional object or a piece of artwork.  Today I will be sharing some of the ideas I have found to be beautiful and inspirational that utilize these wonderful natural elements.

Stick art by Cleverly Inspired

This piece of art was created by Tracie at Cleverly Inspired.  She details how she created it and said it only cost her $2.00.  Bravo!  This piece is wonderful and has that soothing feel that I was referring too.  Here is a similar one posted by Dana at House Tweaking.

A little more formal in its style, but still a very natural feeling.  I have also collected ideas showing how to use rocks in your decor.  Here is one from Lindsay at Living with Lindsay.

I think rocks are beautiful and easy to incorporate in sophisticated ways.  Sometimes they make a great base for something whimsical, such as this creation from Mama Tita at Etsy.com

.

And then there are the trees.  Some images I’m drawn to are wall graphics in the shape of trees, photos of trees, and some very wonderfully done paintings of trees.  I especially love this artist’s work.  His name is Dave Watland and more of his work can be found here.

For more ideas and inspiration for decorating with sticks, rocks, and trees, check out my board on Pinterest.  Happy collecting!
